Found a great place on the lake with outdoor eating. I usually get to these places right after they open to avoid any crowds and it appears that this place does get crowded at least on the weekends. The view was pleasant, the service was cheerful and the food was good and fried. I would definitely go back again
We had a great time at JB's Boondocks today for lunch. Good food and company, ya can't go wrong stopping by for a bite via water or pavement. We took the water route today!!!
Had a great lunch and the shaved rib-eye flatbread sandwich was da bomb!! This place is my favorite for a bite to eat when we're out on the Harris Chain!!
Loved those mashed taters!
Nestled among the Cedar trees, near Howie in the Hills, sits this old-Florida restaurant. Most of the outside deck area is facing Little Lake Harris from which seems to always have a nice breeze and it's in the shade! I went based on a friend's request to try their Calamari dish...and I'm always looking for that illusory perfect Calamari. Well, in short, I found it! We were served an absolutely massive dinner platter full of tender, perfectly breaded calamari (tentacles and all) with a wonderful dish of home-made dipping sauce ($10.99). I also ordered the Cajun fish and FF ($10.99) and was treated to a nicely seasoned and light, breaded fish and TWICE fried FF's, done perfectly...only the coleslaw failed my palate. We looked out over the lake while we savored the morsels and were treated to a mini-race of "JS" class speedboats...
Boondocks satisfy's in many ways only Florida can.
Went for the $9.99 Fish Fry with three other friends. The portion of fish was generous, and the fish was perfect with moist inside and crispy outside. I ordered a salad, which was way too much food. My wife ordered a burger.. the meat was flavorful. I read the other reviews-- my comment is that I have never seen staff hustle as hard anywhere at this apparently family operated place. It is Winter so Florida is high season. We did no have reservations as should everyone during high season BUT had no problem getting a seat. Next time I will sit outside to get the fresh air and views of a Florida lake.
I just recently visited this place and I liked their menu and plan to visit again. They sit on Little Lake Harris and the view is beautiful. We just had appetizers but they were good. They plan on incorporating some type of music when it gets warmer. 3 out of 5 Stars.
